The village of Roscommon is only about 8 miles from the shores of Higgins Lake, and about 25 miles from Houghton Lake. Locals and visitors alike will find many gift shops and other retail options in the downtown district, as well as enjoy kayaking and tubing along the south branch of the Au Sable River, accessible by one of the areas many liveries. Roscommon is also home to Michigan’s Firemen’s Memorial site/festival, as well as the Au Sable River Center.
Canoeing, kayaking, fishing, golfing, jet skiing, swimming, boating, and enjoying the ORV trails are just some of the summer activities locals and visitors enjoy here. As well as the extensive snowmobile trail network, snowshoeing, cross country skiing and of course ice fishing in the winter months.
